Third Class, I Period

Well, this time  was completelly different from the other times. I felt really confident of myself but at the same time I was worried because the teacher asked me to prepare  many  activities for practicing with the students. I thought that those were many activities. I prepared the six activities that  were in the worksheet trying to make them as understandable as possible.

Well, I started my class exactly on time at 4:10  p.m. I began with an activity called “chain-words”. I asked the students to make two groups. Every group had to make a line in front of the board, and  I gave one marker to the firsts students of the two lines. Before that,  I had already written two words MOTHER and SON on the board. And both groups had to write a word that starts with the last letter of the each word. It took me about six minutes, and there was, of course, a group winner, but I did not gave them  prizes.

Later at 4:16, I made pairs-work to start working in an activity with sentences strips. I counted the students from one to ten. As they were twenty, it was easy for me. Then, I asked the ones, the twos, the threes, and so on to get together. That way, they were going to work because some minutes before the teacher told me that there was a  smarter group that always work together. So later, I gave to each pair the sentence strips. I said that they had two minutes to order the sentence. Then, when they had finished ordering the sentences, they had to paste the sentence on the board using masking-tape.  Well, for them the Englsih is a Little bit difficult, so they took more time than the expected for the activity. They did it in about  15 minutes. No matter, I had to continue.

The other activity was very interesting because I used an activity called “shoe-lace”. This activity consists in pasting a lace with tape on the ends and putting fold pieces of paper upon it. It let the words to be ordered. I had not much time, for that reason, I just put two laces on the board. However, this activity helped the students a lot because with this activity they could  move the pieces of paper and also if something was wrong, they could move them easily. I asked for volunteers in every sentence.

Later and finally, I did the last activity. I prepared a chart with a paragraph where there were missing some verbs. I gave the students the correct verbs and also some distractors. I read the paragraph and when they heard the verbs missing, they had to go and paste it on the blanks in the chart. So I think that all the students did it nice. When they finished, it was exactly at five the time they finish the class. I was happy to have finished it on time. So then, I said thank you to all of them because they had behaved well during the classes, and that that was the last time that I was going to be with them, and they said “no teacher we love you, we like how you teach”. I felt great but I just gave them a piece of Candy to all of them: and so, I finished the class.
